Blog of the year award 2012

Blog of the Year Award!

I was in a foul mood yesterday, wrung out from thinking in circles about a particular problem. Until I found a shiny new award waiting for me in a comment box, that is!

My friend and fellow Portugal blogger, Alyson Sheldrake of Algarve Blog fame has created an ingenious system whereby bloggers can give and receive the Blog of the Year Award more than once and collect stars each time they are nominated by someone. A bit like McDonalds’ badges only miles cooler.

Blog of the Year Award badge with one star

Starting off with one star…

The ‘rules’ for the award are simple and I have shamelessly copied and pasted them from Algarve Blog:

1 Select the blog(s) you think deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award

2 Write a blog post and tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen – there’s no minimum or maximum number of blogs required – and ‘present’ them with their award.

3 Please include a link back to this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award –  and include these ‘rules’ in your post (please don’t alter the rules or the badges!)

4 Let the blog(s) you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share the ‘rules’ with them

5 You can now also join our Facebook page – click the link here ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award Facebook page and then you can share your blog with an even wider audience

6 As a winner of the award – please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award – and then proudly display the award on your blog and sidebar … and start collecting stars…

So, without further ado, here are the blogs I would like to bestow this award upon. It’s just as well that I can repeat some that have already been named though:

Algarve Blog, for friendship, great writing and beautiful photographs of the Algarve

Expatlogue, for brilliantly written information about Islam and mental health, as well as expat life in Canada

Sami’s Colourful World, for being such a diligent commenter and a great blog about living in Australia

Restlessjo, a fellow lover of travel and Portugal

Casa Azul, becoming self-sufficient in rural Portugal

Sagi-K Street Photography, for stunning and inspirational photographs

Ruin’Arte, for a creative and much-needed project, not to mention outstanding photographs

Now all I have to do is contact everyone and let them know how lucky they are!

Update, 30th November, 2012: I now have two shiny stars, thanks to Cat Bird in Oman.
