This chunky wall light is just one of the many original decorative features of Porto's Miradouro Hotel. Back in the 1960's this was the premier design hotel in the city.

Photo Essay: Glass galore in Porto

Portugal is famous for its azulejos (beautiful painted tiles) but today I’m putting its glass in the spotlight. In the city of Porto alone, I found everything from art deco stained glass murals and fancy ceilings to the shattered remains of a river front balcony.
