Located right in front of the Douro River, 1872 River House gives wonderful scenic views over the riverside area. Many of the rooms blend gorgeous stonework with a clean classical look and offer either city or river views.

Treat yourself with a stay in this little “castle” set amongst landscaped gardens. You can choose a room either in the Classic or Contemporary wing and even visit the private chapel set in the gardens. The original interior arcitecture and design of the main house has been carefully maintained so it feels like you’re stepping into another world, although the facilities, like bathrooms, have been modernised.
