Julie Dawn Fox in Portugal is a 1% for the Planet Business Member

Knowing that the love and energy I have poured into creating Julie Dawn Fox in Portugal helps you have a better experience of Portugal is priceless. I never fail to get a thrill when readers or 1:1 clients write to tell me what a difference my recommendations and support have made to their trip.

But I want to make a bigger difference in this world, and help build a better planet.

I’ve now found the perfect way to achieve this.

Enter 1% for the Planet®

I am thrilled and proud to be a certified 1% for the Planet Business Member. As such, I have committed to giving at least 1% of my annual revenue directly to environmental causes. 1% for the Planet® verify my income and donations each year to make sure I’m putting my money where my mouth is.

1 % for the planet certification

I get to choose which of the approved 1% for the Planet® Environmental Partners I support, and I make my payments directly to that organisation. Before signing up to 1% for the Planet®, I checked their list of partners to make sure that TreeSisters was on there, and it is.

What I love about TreeSisters

TreeSisters fund a diverse portfolio of tropical reforestation projects that are ethical, community-led, expand natural forest cover and aim to avoid further deforestation. Their work encompasses wider environmental and social impacts, putting forests, communities and gender equity at the heart of their work.

This directly and indirectly supports several of the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are about making a dramatic difference in all key areas to make the world a better, cleaner, safer place for everyone.

What is Treesisters?

TreeSisters is an invitation to everyone to do as much radical good as they can for the planet. Our global network of treesisters is transforming both lives and landscapes in extraordinary ways. TreeSisters offers unique global programs that focus on encouraging women’s leadership, Nature-connection, and significant behaviour change as we make the shift from being consumers to restorers.

TreeSisters is funding the restoration of environments, biodiversity and communities within more than 10 major ecosystems around the global Tropics, through a diverse portfolio of vetted, trusted reforestation projects and in the process, planting millions of trees.

By giving to TreeSisters, we are:

  • planting tropical trees,
  • sequestering carbon,
  • directly helping to replenish the world’s forests,
  • empowering women,
  • helping impoverished communities

How can you contribute?

By all means, make any direct donation you would like to TreeSisters, or 1% for the Planet but you can also support their work simply by using my blog to plan your trip.

Although I offer paid products and services, such as Fully Managed Portugal Itineraries, Custom Itinerary Design and Quick Query travel consultations, you don’t even need to purchase them in order to make a difference.

  1. Julie, you have my full support to integrate as much as possible SDG’s in tourism. It makes much sense to combine two reinforcing objectives. I’m living in Lagos, Algarve since my retirement last November after worked for international development institutions. If I need one of your services I’ll definitely keep it in mind. Best regards, Frans
