Suggested itinerary

Day 1 – Ponte de Lima

  • Make your own way (or add a private transfer) to the charming riverside town of Ponte de Lima
  • Rest of the day at leisure to explore the historical town
  • Spend the night in a comfortable 3-star hotel

Day 2 – Ponte de Lima to Peneda (9 km)

  • Private transfer to the starting point of the first walk, a small village in the Peneda Mountains
  • Follow an ancient stone path across the peaks, passing fascinating granite rock formations and mountain streams
  • Enjoy spectacular views as you cross the plateau and make your descent to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Peneda
  • Spend the night in a comfortable 3-star hotel

Day 3 – Peneda to Lindoso (18 km)

  • Follow the Peneda River through the leafy valley all the way to Mixtura das Águas where it flows into the Lindoso Reservoir
  • Continue alongside the reservoir to the tiny village of Várzea
  • Transfer to the pretty village of Lindoso where you can admire the castle and collection of granite grain stores
  • Accommodation in a charming country cottage in the village

Day 4 – Serra Amarela trail (16 km + 7 km (optional))

  • No need to pack your case today as you set off on a scenic trail around Lindoso, taking in spectacular views and more mountain villages
  • Accommodation in a charming country cottage in the village

Day 5 – Lindoso to Soajo (approx 12 km) 

  • Walk through a series of traditional villages and attractive landscapes to reach the River Lima and continue into Soajo
  • Accommodation in a charming country cottage in the village

Day 6 – Avelar to Soajo (18 km)

  • Private transfer to the village of Avelar
  • Your walk begins with incredible views of the Ramiscal Valley and forest, a protected part of the Peneda-Gerês
  • Continue into the wilderness to see shepherds’ shelters, an ancient wolf trap and breathtaking views
  • Return to Soajo via more isolated villages and the Mezio Park Gate
  • Accommodation in a charming country cottage in the village

Day 7 – Soajo to Porto

  • Private transfer from Soajo to the city of Porto where you will have free time to see a few of the key sights or do some shopping
  • Accommodation at a 4-star hotel

Day 8 – End of services

  • After breakfast at the hotel, check out and embark on your onward journey or adapt this itinerary by adding extra nights and a city tour.
