If you’re looking for a great hotel on São Miguel Island, Azores, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Whether it’s the celebrity treatment you’re looking for or the chance to spend some time relaxing in the middle of lush greenery, this amazing island is guaranteed to give you a vacation you’ll never forget.

I’ve used Ponta Delgada, the island’s capital, as a base for exploring by car. If you’re not driving or using private tours, this is likely to be your most convenient base in terms of access to public transport and group tours.

However, if you’re looking to pick a spot to unwind in, you can venture further afield, such as the delightful village of Furnas or a more coastal location.

So, take a look at my suggestions on where to stay in São Miguel, Azores and get your holiday off to a perfect start. These range from 5-star hotels to boutique guesthouses and cute villas in wonderful places all around the island and at different price points.

For car hire check out Discovercars and Rentalcars for the best deals.

Wherever possible, I choose accommodations that follow sustainable practices, as indicated by the number of leaves (3 is the top score). No leaf simply means that I can’t verify their current efforts regarding sustainable travel but I love the property.
